Privacy Policy

How Lokalr handles your information.

Draft v0.1 · 14 June 2026

DRAFT. DRAFT — under review. This is a working draft provided for transparency and is not yet a final, binding agreement. It is being reviewed by counsel. Questions: legal@lokalr.app

1. Our approach to location

Lokalr is place-first but not a people-tracking product. We associate your activity with place identifiers and approximate location at the time of an action — we do not build or store a continuous GPS trail of your movements.

2. Information we collect

You provide: your mobile phone number (for sign-up + one-time passcode), profile details, content (posts, photos, video, stories, comments, reactions, check-ins), the places you follow, your date of birth (for the age gate), and messages to us (including reports).

3. Sensitive information

Precise location may be treated as sensitive personal information under laws such as the CPRA and similar state laws. Where required, we limit its use to purposes you would expect (anchoring a post, finding nearby places). You can disable location access anytime in device settings.

4. How we use information

5. How we share information

Content you post to a place is public by design. We share with service providers (hosting, SMS, content-safety, analytics) under contract; with NCMEC and law enforcement where required; in corporate transactions; and with your direction. We do not sell your personal information for money. To the extent certain analytics are a “sale”/“sharing” under state law, we provide the opt-out below.

6. Child safety & CSAM

We use screening and reporting tools to detect child sexual abuse material. On a hit we remove it, preserve content and records as required by law, terminate the account, and report to NCMEC and/or authorities, consistent with U.S. law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A and the REPORT Act). These obligations may require retaining certain information even after account deletion.

7. Your choices & rights

8. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed, then delete or de-identify it. Examples (to be finalized): account data deleted/de-identified within [30–90] days of deletion; content removed when you delete it (backups purged within [30] days); ephemeral stories expire (e.g., 24h) and media is deleted; child-safety records retained as required by law.

9. Security & transfers

We use technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. Lokalr is operated from the United States; your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries. No system is perfectly secure — report concerns to security@lokalr.app.

10. Children & changes

Lokalr is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. We may update this Policy; we will post the new effective date and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Contact: privacy@lokalr.app.
